London Fashion Weekend

This February I went to the London Fashion Week Festival with my best friends Ruby and Katie. We went on the first day of the Fashion Weekend (Thursday the 23rd February) and decided to book the Silver Package tickets for the event.

This meant that we got given goodies in a designer tote bag and were able to watch a trend catwalk from the front row! All 3 of us are hugely into fashion and shopping (obviously) so we were so excited for a day consisting of just that.

Naturally our first stop before hitting the Fashion Show was the Missguided Store. This was our first time visiting and we loved it so much we could have spent hours shopping.

The store is so cute and quirky and full of the most perfect clothes which looked even better in person than online. We will definitely be returning for a full day of shopping!

We got our seats at the front row to watch the Trend Catwalk and obviously had to get a picture to capture the moment.

The presenter of the catwalk was fashion expert Laura Jackson, who had actually presented the Brits after show the night before! (I don't know how she recovered in time).

Laura described each trend before we saw the models walk the catwalk, giving us an insight into what was in store for SS17.

It was great to see a lot of colour on the catwalk, as I think this epitomises fashion for spring/summer. It's something that we've also seen a lot of in the high street shops recently, as well as the mules and floral designs worn by the models in the pictures above.

The catwalk certainly showcased an appropriate collection of what we would be seeing in fashion retail during the summer, and it made us want to buy the trend immediately!

You can also notice the shirred trend from this catwalk, and the model in the purple blouse mimics this perfectly. As you can see, the shirred and tight fitting top half of the shirt is neatly contrasted with an oversized billowing bottom half and flared loose material around the chest to emphasise the neckline.

I love this trend at the minute as it's a great statement look, and there's so many off the shoulder tops and dresses around at the minute which gives such a feminine feel to our summer wardrobes.

Another trend I noticed from the catwalk was the styling of statement earrings, seen on the model above. The use of these type of earrings can complete a look by adding colour and drawing attention to the top half of your outfit, which works great when wearing bardot tops and dresses.

I've invested in a lot of statement earrings this summer, and it was great to see them making an appearance on the catwalk!

After watching the catwalk we had the chance to shop (again) all of the different clothing brands and explore the festival which offered talks from fashion professionals, pop up shops and photo booths.

Basically a girls idea of heaven.

The best part was that all of the designer clothes and accessories were discounted for the festival, so we managed to buy Vivienne Westwood scarfs for only £40! This definitely made our day.

The festival was full of perfect photo opportunities, and we found an amazing wall of flowers where you could have your picture taken on a Polaroid Camera and have it put on a key chain for you take away.

This was also a great way to show off your outfit and as you can imagine, every girl was making the most of it.

...Including us. But who can resist at London Fashion Weekend?

Whilst at the festival we also got to speak to promoters of Like to Know it, the app which allows you to shop via Instagram.

Once registered, Like to Know it is able to see which outfit posts you like on Instagram. It then sends you emails with details of the outfit, and direct links to the store from which the products were brought from so that you can shop the look straight away!

I think this is such an amazing idea, especially as Instagram has become so influential in the fashion industry today, so obviously we signed up to get involved!

After a jam packed day of fashion, we finished with a well earned meal at Pizza Express. We throughly enjoyed visiting the festival, as it was something completely different which we had never experienced before!

I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about going, as you feel a part of London Fashion Week and it's such a great way to get involved. The event is also visited by many famous fashion Bloggers and YouTubers; unfortunately we didn't see any... but hopefully next year we'll be luckier!
