Autumn Must-Haves

Summer is already over, and it's that awkward 'in-between' time of the year where you're not quite ready for your winter wardrobe, but at the same time you're struggling to keep warm in your summer essentials. I know the feeling.

To solve this issue, I decided to buy a bomber jacket. It has been a great purchase so far, and because of the light material and bright colours, I've been able to co-ordinate it with all of my summer tops (which I'm not ready to say goodbye to yet).

The bomber jacket I chose is from Topshop, and I love it. At first I was hesitant to buy it, because I was wary that I always tend to buy very brightly coloured clothes, and then end up struggling to find things to wear them with. However, this was thankfully not the case, as most of my summery tops are pale coloured which compliment the jacket nicely.

In the first picture above, I wore the bomber jacket with Topshop's grey pleated trousers, a white bodysuit from Misguided and white Adidas Superstars: all pale and lightly coloured to compliment the jacket and allow it to stand out from the outfit.

Another item which I recently invested in were these metallic boots, also from Topshop. Again, I was hesitant about purchasing these because my usual 'go-to' boots are black, because they go with everything.

But after purchasing these, I've began to realise that there are hardly any colours which don't compliment metallic silver. They instantly complete an outfit (especially when wearing all black) because they immediately add a quirky twist to your look to make you stand out from the crowd.

They're also extremely comfortable to wear, and as you can see the heel is not very high so they don't make your feet ache at all. This also means that they can easily be dressed up or down to suit your outfit, so you'll definitely be making the most of your money!

The velvet trend is growing this season, and so I decided to purchase this blue velvet bodysuit from Topshop (pictured above). I've bought a lot of bodysuits recently as they're so easy to wear, and this one is a perfect going out item.

A lot of shops have started to sell more velvet clothing recently, especially Zara. They have everything from bags to jackets to skirts and tops, all velvet style and at a good price as well. Primark have also got a collection of long sleeved velvet tops in pink, green and black if you're looking for a bargain.

Another trend to look out for this season is embroidery. The design tends to be floral, and gives a unique look to any item of clothing.

This bomber jacket from Topshop (pictured above) is a particular favourite of mine, because it combines 2 of the most amplifying trends at the moment: velvet and embroidery. The combination creates a stand out statement jacket which would complete any outfit.

Embroidery is also being applied to bags, a great way to accessorise your outfit in a quirky way. This clutch bag from Zara (pictured above) does this perfectly, with it's own unique designs to bring an outfit to life. Embroidery is also becoming prevalent on autumn boots, sold in Miss Selfridge, New Look and Topshop.

It seems the high street shops have taken note of the designer trends, and thankfully made them affordable. These Gucci trainers look amazing, but I certainly won't be able to afford them any time soon...

So there we have it! The autumn must haves. Velvet, embroidery, metallics and of course the bomber jackets - which are definitely here to stay. Keep your eyes peeled for any bargains, and make the most of these trends while autumn lasts!
